This project grew out of an interest in arch shapes and efficient design in general. This 10-foot by 15-foot covered space was built with a handful of 2x6s, carriage bolts, and ratchet straps. It uses design elements of a gothic arch and of a yurt, both of which use materials very efficiently. (And hence the name, thanks to a friend.) This version worked well in summer but was not strong enough to carry a snow load.
