Wall Tent Woodworks

This greenhouse is designed as a season-extender. It uses single-wall polycarbonate panels and is designed to be as airtight as possible to keep heat in on cold days. Ventilation is provided by the screen door and one opening window. The frame is built with a combination of local surfaced lumber from Northland Wood and imported cedar, which is naturally rot-resistant. The framing was treated with Vermont Natural Coatings Poly Whey, a non-toxic waterproofer made with a byproduct of the dairy industry. We were able to complete the project in early winter by building and treating the walls inside and then transporting them to the site. Cedar purlins are notched into the spruce framing for added strength.
